Abstract:
This article shows that corporate governance plays a central explanatory role in the growth trajectories of young and innovative firms. We analyze a unique sample of 80 French firms monitored between 2014 and 2017 and we show that beyond individual factors (entrepreneur?s age and motivation) and organizational factors (size, age and level of innovation of the company), the existence of a strategic committee and the presence of venture capitalists playing a disciplinary role seem to support the growth of these companies.
