Éthique et intérêt: quels mobiles pour « l'entreprise providence » ?

Anne Salmon

Revue française de socio-Economie, 2009, vol. n° 4, issue 2, 39-57

Abstract: The question of ethics has become central in multinational firms. Paradoxically, the ethical discourses developed by the globalized corporations appeared after the market has been introduced within these organizations in order to promote efficiency and competitiveness. If the reference to the principle of interest, considered as motive for action, as Hirschman emphasized, has the aim to economize the ?ethical good?, does the introduction of these new management discourses mean a deep change ? On the contrary, if the market is still in the heart of corporate social relations, what is the significance of these norms and values promoted by the firms themselves ?
