Abstract:
Cities are back on the political scene, no one ignores. And a paradox arose. Yet city managers now want to be able to manage urban policies with new rational tools of government, there?s a great lack of data concerning cities. That?s why the World Bank formulated and implemented new programs for new urban statistics. Among them, the ?Global City indicators Program? (GCIP), whose main goal is to offer an international benchmarking for cities, is the object of this article.
