Dessiner le marché, démultiplier le calcul. Les rationalisations matérielle et formelle dans la téléphonie au tournant des années 1980

Abstract:
In the 1970 and 1980s, French telecommunications engineers draw before time a market, by introducing on the paper the figures of a strategic tariff and a calculating customer. This shift offers them an expanded area of calculation, and will encourage them to initiate a tariff reform and an academic economy of networks. Between economics and economy, this article shows a bidirectional link. The taste of calculation led engineers to develop new ways of framing the networks, involving choices of values and a renewed economic morality.
