Abstract:
This research discusses the empowerment of two central actors in the corporate governance: new corporate leaders with a financial profile and investment funds. We identify the structural and organisational causes of this rising power, as well as the nature of their relationship and its consequences for the industrial strategies of firms. By focusing on the Swiss machine industry, we analyse the main dimensions of the financialization process and stress the central role of the renewal of top managers.
