Abstract:
The two regimes controlling the international circulation of TV shows and movies radically differ in their valuation systems. We compare the two largest TV and film markets in the world, which both take place in Cannes, arguing that the first one, MIPTV, uses the ?exhibition? system, whereby the best TV shows are presented but are not sold on the spot. On the other hand, MIF makes use of a ?festive? system, where the films are auctioned, alongside the film festival that gives its rhythm to the market while also being its leading valuation system.
