Abstract:
The public health category of ?female sex worker? is currently benefiting from a transnational expansion. This article not only shows the ways in which the term female sex worker is used in the Melanesian archipelago of Vanuatu, but also reveals the possible sociocultural consequences of its use for the people concerned.
