Abstract:
The Lascaux Program is concerned with agricultural and food issues, ?from plough to plate,? from a mainly legal perspective and based around the central concept of ?food security? defined by the FAO. Addressing a socioeconomic issue such as this from a legal perspective necessitates going beyond a purely technical and positivist approach. Take a problem such as studying from a legal point of view the causes of famine, or the imbalance in North-South trade: it is pointless to try to apprehend the legal problems of food security by means of a single-disciplinary approach. In this regard, the Lascaux Program owes much to the other social sciences since the greatly differing degree of food security enjoyed by different peoples is closely linked to their history and geography. Given this complexity, the Lascaux Program did not set out to recognize the existence of a new area of law. It was necessary first of all to highlight convergences (between land law, trade law, international law, intellectual property, human rights, consumer law, and so on), by using reality to test the coherence of the law. The above research logically led us to put forward proposals for legal models capable of regulating and improving food security in the world.
