Abstract:
What type of demographic and economic dynamics are responsible for the migration perspectives of Turkey over the period up to 2050 ? The structural changes of the domestic economy and the regional disparities within the country determine the magnitude of the rural exodus and the migration flows from the east to the west of the country. At the international scale, migration flows towards European Union are explained in terms of the future labour needs of the EU and the convergence of the Turkish economy to the level of developed countries of immigration areas. Finally, the migration flows towards Turkey, mostly unofficial are also considered. The main determinants of this migration flows are to be found in the economic and political dynamics of the regional environment of Turkey.
