Démissions et licenciements face aux changements dans les entreprises:. La diversité des transitions professionnelles

Fabienne Berton

Travail et Emploi, 2013, vol. n° 136, issue 4, 49-68

Abstract: Following resignation or dismissal, what are the employment transitions of workers in a significant technical or organizational change context in their firm? The COI (Changements organisationnels et informatisation) 2006 survey and its associated qualitative post-survey may be some tools to study these transitions by connecting structural determinations and individual strategies. Five types of employment transition are brought to light according to four criteria: how the employee sees the change; the permanence of her/his job; the initiative of job termination; her/his ability to mobilise a career plan. Successful transitions correspond to resignations and to job terminations chosen by the employee; risks of exclusion, to dismissals and to job terminations imposed by the employer. Between these two transitions, the paper points an intermediate area encompassing resignations as well as dismissals, choices as well as constraints.
