An Analysis of the Navy's Fiscal Year 2020 Shipbuilding Plan
Congressional Budget Office
No 55685, Reports from Congressional Budget Office
Abstract:
The Navy submits an annual report that describes the planned inventory, purchases, deliveries, and retirements of the ships in its fleet for the next three decades. CBO estimates that the Navy’s 2020 shipbuilding plan would cost an average of $31 billion per year (in 2019 dollars) over 30 years, more than 50 percent above the average shipbuilding budget during the past five years.
