The Development of Ethical Issues Facing Boards of Directors: A Model with Implications

Ian Jones and Michael Pollitt

Working Papers from Centre for Business Research, University of Cambridge

Abstract: Outlines a model of how ethical issues develop over time using an ethical issue life cycle with three phases. Illustrates the model with reference to ethical issues currently facing UK boards of directors, and uses the Bible to further develop the model to suggest how company boards might respond to ethical issues as they progress.
