Abstract:
The paper presents the close connection that exists between liberalism and globalization. In the first part we make a presentation of the historical evolution of liberalism, starting with the classical economic liberalism continuing with the neo-classical liberalism emphasizing neo-liberalism and within the latter one, the monetarism. In the second part of the paper we present the concept of globalization considered both from an economic and from a social point of view. Among the winners of globalization we notice the transnational companies and among the losers, the underqualified workers. As a main conclusion we consider that globalization has brought about an increase in the social – economic inequities.
