Abstract:
This paper aimed to study several aspects of the economic crisis influence on the Romanian consumer behavior. In the first part of the paper, I have presented the relevant economic factors, which are certainly among the factors that determine behavior, among other factors. I then briefly presented the economic crisis impact on Romania. The last part includes aspects of the influences of the economic crisis on Romanian consumer behavior. I used as data sources: consumer behavior literature, statistical data, published results of surveys (from research carried out by specialized companies), economic publications, recent academic articles. In other words, I did an indirect research about the effects of the economic crisis on the Romanian consumer behavior. The negative effects of the crisis have changed the buying and consumption behavior of the Romanians. Some obvious effects were: the purchase and consumption of cheaper products, the purchase and consumption in smaller quantity, waiving or postponing some of their expenditures (especially the purchase of new cars, the purchase of home appliances, reducing the duration of the holiday period, reducing the number of the holidays abroad). I tried to cover as many aspects of the influence of the economic crisis on Romanian consumer behavior, but the research is not exhaustive, since the implications of the crisis on Romanian consumer behaviour are vast (as dimensions of the behaviour and as areas, too).
