Abstract: Sustained implementation of the measures of regional development policies, attracting European funds for local development and reducing disparities will lead not only to boosting and diversifying economic activities, stimulating investments in the private sector, helping to reduce unemployment and improve living standards, but also to the creation of a supportive environment and to the adaptation of sustainable actions that converge with the areas of competence of the region. In this context, the work aims to capture a series of general elements relating to regional development, as well as to underline a number of regionalization models within the European Union.
