Abstract:
Sustainable Development Education develops and improves the capacity of individuals, groups, communities, organizations and countries to think and act in favor of sustainable development. This type of education offers a critical approach, a high degree of awareness and the power to explore and develop new concepts, visions, methods and tools. Education for Sustainable Development in Romania in 2019 is addressed transversely in the formal curriculum of pre-university education, but also in extracurricular activities (especially within the National Program Școala Altfel). Education for Sustainable Development is achieved through the numerous partnerships that the Ministry of National Education has with central and local public authorities, economic operators and NGOs. The themes of these partnerships in secondary education refer to poverty reduction, civil rights and social responsibilities at local / regional / global level, child rights, equality and diversity, tolerance and respect, rural and urban development, environmental protection, natural resource management. The School involved in Sustainable Development Education implies itself in education for the future by encouraging students and teachers to think with a culture of complexity, using critical thinking to explore and ask questions, clearly formulate what constitutes values, reflect on the value of learning, taking decisions, reviewing all subjects and pedagogy in the light of the sustainable development education.
