Abstract: Significant challenges for the education system worldwide have been generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The article is an approach to diagnose the situation of the Romanian education system in terms of digital infrastructure, noting that, given the complexity of this issue, a comprehensive approachto all aspects and actors involved is difficult to achieve through a timely study such as the present one. Given these aspects, the analysis focused on the main actors of the educational process: school (digital integration analysis), teachers (digital skills analysis) and students (households'access to the Internet and financial possibilities). The research emphasises the key challenges for digital education in Romania.
