Abstract: The new economy or digital economy, resulting from the interaction between the personal computer, telecommunications, Internet and electronics, is characterized by a series of features completely different from the traditional economy. The health crisis that erupted at the beginning of March simultaneously in most European countries has created a completely new situation for public institutions in each country, as well as for international bodies from the perspective of identifying data sources to assess its short-term impact on economy. The new economy puts, in the foreground, the demand, the needs of consumers who are increasingly involved in the design, construction and use of goods and services, starting from the stage of research and development. From this point of view, the new economy has an interactive, participatory character, realizing the interface between supply and demand on an area of volume and structure, in space and time, much more rigorously. The role of the consumer is growing in the sense that it can become an important source of innovative ideas for the producer, or forcing innovation, in order to maintain or expand the market, increase comfort or, most importantly, raise the level of sustainability of economic development.
