Abstract: This scientific endeavor investigates the key activities of the human resources function, starting from the traditional ones to the modern ones oriented towards maintaining organizational performance. Through a theoretical lens, the article examines how HR now impacts various facets of organizational performance, including talent acquisition, performance management, and organizational culture development. Key models, such as the ResourceBased View and Ulrich's Strategic Partner Model, highlight HR's influence on productivity, innovation, and adaptability within dynamic market environments. Additionally, contemporary HR challenges—such as remote work, diversity, and technology integration—are analysed alongside classical theories adapted to address these modern demands. Ultimately, the article underscores HR’s role in fostering sustainable competitive advantage by aligning human capital with strategic organizational goals, promoting resilience and adaptability in an increasingly complex global landscape.
