No 200222, Working Papers from CERDI
Abstract:
Using data from a survey of rural households in China, this article examines the impacts of non-farm activity on living standard of farmers and on rural income distribution with a micro-economic analysis. Our results show that the participation in non-farm activity alleviates both inequality and poverty. In particular, it reduces income gap among poor households and improves their income level.
