The UK's 'riddle of peacefulness': what explains falling crime?

Abstract: There has been a substantial fall in rates of property theft and violent crime in the UK. The author surveys a series of CEP studies that shed light on this transformation - what BBC home editor Mark Easton has labelled the country's 'riddle of peacefulness'.
