CEFAGE-UE Working Papers from University of Evora, CEFAGE-UE (Portugal) Abstract: In this study we have analyzed the evolution of foreign trade and we have identified areas of regular cross-border trade relations between the province of Huelva and the region of Alentejo, as well as the companies that carry out these activities. We have identified a number of elements linked to cooperation: perception of business opportunities, drivers and barriers to cooperation, level of trust in partners, culture of internationalization, the purpose of cross-border activity (seller/exporter, buyer/importer and/or manufacturing), human resources and assessment of cross-border experience. The methodology used was the personal survey, visiting each and every one of the companies belonging to the target population. Results showed that cross-border trade relationships between companies of Huelva and Alentejo are at an early stage.
