Economic Statistics Series from Central Bank of Chile

Abstract: This paper presents the methodological changes that the Central Bank of Chile introduces into the balance of payments statistics and international investment position from March 2012, accompanied by spliced series starting in 2003. These changes are associated with the incorporation of new recommendations from the IMF’s Sixth Manual of Balance of Payments and are related to changes in presentation, adjustments or reclassifications in the treatment of certain transactions, and introduction of new categories to be measured. Along with this, other methodological changes are integrated with the aim of improving the country's external accounts estimates.
