Abstract:
The information revolution and the destruction of the environment are leading to changes in society, economy and politics which can be included in the overall concept of globalization. This article analyses the influence of the two factors which are changing our civilisation in a specific area: the principles of the conventional economic systems in the Western world (capitalism and the market economy). Special emphasis will be made on the role of civil society in the solution of problems which, until recently, were the States’ concern. At any rate, the present situation is likely to change, as “the only constant is the increasing rate of change”.
