Abstract: In Argentina research into cooperativism has played a marginal role reflecting a weak relationship between research and the problems, needs and potential of this sector. This paper carries out a review of research undertaken into cooperativism and published in specialist magazines over the period 1997-2000 in Argentina, with the purpose of considering its scope and importance. The key subjects dealt with are examined taking into account how often they are explored, the discipline they belong to, the methodology used and the field to which the institution producing the research belongs. The paper arrives in this fashion at a description of the group of current tendencies in cooperativism taking into account, furthermore, the themes that are absent.
