El primer cooperativismo agrario español

Samuel Garrido

CIRIEC-España, revista de economía pública, social y cooperativa, 2003, issue 44, 33-56

Abstract: Literature on the Spanish agricultural co-operative movement of the first third of the XX century has experienced a substantial change in direction over recent years. Where the first papers published up to the mid 1980s argued that its dominant features were precariousness and a discontinuous presence, more recent studies tend to stress the co-operatives as an important factor in stimulating agricultural activity. This article adopts the second point of view, but at the same time shows the significant weaknesses the movement presented and analyses why it did not achieve greater development.
