Abstract:
Cooperatives form the basis of the Social Economy in the agricultural sector, due to their importance from a business point of view and the particular characteristics of their organization. This research seeks to provide a clear idea the management situation in olive oil cooperatives in Catalonia. Our intention is to describe a specific typology of cooperatives, based on their attitude with regard to the sector, and to create a positioning map of the different types of cooperatives on the basis of their characteristics. The conclusions make reference to aspects that the managers of cooperatives must work on in order to improve the quality of their management.
