Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyse whether the government subsidy that has been paid to workers of a large Canadian firm in the context of a work sharing program has been a profitable operation for the government. We find that it has not been financially viable for the provincial government and that under some circumstances it could be profitable for the federal government. Cette étude examine la rentabilité financière d'une subvention gouvernementale versée pour dédommager en partie des travailleurs qui ont adhéré à un programme du partage du travail au sein d'une grande firme canadienne. Nos résultats suggèrent que selon les hypothèses les plus optimistes, la subvention versée par le gouvernement provincial ne s'avère pas rentable pour ce palier de gouvernement. Toutefois sous certaines conditions, la subvention versée par le gouvernement fédéral peut s'avérer rentable.
