Abstract:
This paper analyses the recent employment growth in the services sector, along the Northern Mexican border. The hypothesis presented, assumes that the division of the services sector into it´s two main components: producer services and consumer services contributes to the understanding of the impact of the commonly cited determinants. The main data source is the economic census published by INEGI during the period 1988-2004. The methodology is based in the econometric analysis of data arranged in panel format.
