Abstract: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a crucial method of dealing with business operations' social and environmental effects. CSR has evolved and is expected to solve some of the world’s critical matters, such as climate change, and poverty reduction, and even aid in meeting the sustainable development goals (SDF). This paper examines how CSR is considered in the oil and gas industry, and the role played by the biggest firms in the industry that are implementing CSR initiatives. Oil activities have clear negative effects, such as when there are oil spills, it deteriorates the physical environment and is hazardous, leading to widespread opposition from impacted people, civic organizations, and social groupings. To help address larger corporate, social, and environmental challenges, this research aims to analyze the importance of CSR. The case studies of the world’s top five oil and gas firms are further considered in the paper to explore this research subject.
