Abstract:
The diplomacy of drug trafficking between Colombia and the U.S. during the López Administration is analyzed in this essay. The domestic factors that facilitated Colombia's turn into a major narcotics supplier to the American market are also studied. The relatively calm relationship between López and Gerald Ford is contrasted to the tense diplomacy between López and the Carter Administration.
