Abstract: This paper presents a brief analysis of the finances of the National University of Colombia, with emphasis on the period since the enactment of Law 30 of 1992, contrasting its situation with that of the aggregate of public universities in the country. It refers to the different forms of university financing, especially the contributions of Colombia's central government budget and the University's own resources, as well as the resources approved by a 2012 tax reform and a 2013 law (e.g., the so-called Pro National University Stamp). It would be desirable –the author points out– to adopt a long-term policy of public higher education financing.
