Reflexiones sobre la selección, el rol y la evaluación de desempeño del profesor universitario

Abstract: The text proposes to include aspects related to teaching and learning quality as key indicators for self-assessment and performance evaluation of university professors. It first presents a brief historical evolution of the role of the professor and how it has started to vanish due to two primary reasons: the university ranking system and the creation of differentiation indicators that make universities stand out in the face of the massification of higher education and the widespread growth of private institutions. These institutions are attempting to handle - with poor quality educational standards and manageability- the increase of applications that result from the expansion of intermediate and secondary education.
