Abstract: Based on the experience of economic, financial and commercial openness in many Latin American countries, the issue of the impact of income distribution on the dynamics of capital accumulation and long-term economic growth has become relevant again. However, it is necessary to look back on theoretical aspects of income distribution, in particular, with respect to highlighting the conflicting “nature” of income distribution, the spheres of realization of the distributive conflict (orders) and, therefore, the social relationships underlying each one. This article highlights the role of the State and the market in the distributive conflict as privileged dimensions, based on a synthetic view of classical political economy and a vision of Polanyi and the French School of Regulation on institutional change.
