Abstract: Este trabajo analiza, mediante técnicas de cointegración, si la conformación del MERCOSUR ha tenido un impacto positivo en latasa de crecimiento de Argentina. Así mismo, se estudia si el efecto de las exportaciones e importaciones intrabloque sobre el productodifiere. Si bien los resultados no son concluyentes y son muy sensibles a las especificaciones, no parecería que los beneficios propuestospor la teoría se lleven a cabo. Abstract: This paper studies the impact of the creation of MERCOSUR on Argentinean economic growth by employing cointegration methodology.Moreover, it analyzes whether the performance of Argentinean imports and exports within MERCOSUR´s members is differentor not. Although the results are not conclusive and are very sensitive to specifications, it seems that the theoretical advantages ofintegration don´t play any role.
