Abstract: This review provides an overview of contemporary sociology through the book “Contemporary Sociology. Areas of Study and Representative Concepts (Vol. I–II)”, Beladi Publishing, Craiova, 2025. The volume brings together 27 authors, both Romanian academics and researchers from abroad, whose contributions form 28 chapters organised into three thematic sections: Section I: Sociological analysis of the main social units; Section II: Sociological interpretation of the main social activities and phenomena; and Section III: Evolution of sociology at continental and national level. Each chapter is briefly described, with a focus on its methodological landmarks, the genesis and evolution of the field, its key concepts and practical implications, in order to provide a better understanding of the 1,155 pages that outline the contemporary paradigms and directions of sociology. By integrating theoretical, methodological and applied perspectives, the book highlights the role of sociology in understanding and explaining the transformations of contemporary society.
