Abstract: Towards the end of 2000, a study was commissioned into the projected economic impact of the new Cape Town International Convention Centre. The study set out to measure the macroeconomic impact of the Convention Centre as well as identify industries that could be promoted by the existence of the Centre. This paper focuses on the first part of the study and reports on the projected macroeconomic impact of the CTICC and the methodology that was used to determine this impact.
