Abstract:
The article summarizes the issue of assessing decent work and economic growth on the Polish-Ukrainian border on the basis of a set of indicators. The main purpose of the study is to conduct a comparative assessment of decent work and economic growth in the border regions of Poland and Ukraine, based on available statistics in the context of Goal 8 of the Global Sustainable Development Goals 2030. The study of literature sources and approaches to assessment estimates of decent work and economic growth in the context of the implementation of the Global Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 in the border regions of Poland and Ukraine have been ignored by domestic and foreign researchers and need to be studied in more detail. The urgency of solving this study is that it is important for Ukrainian border regions to identify problems and timely implement measures to equalize the level of development in the Polish-Ukrainian border regions to stop the threatening processes of labor migration, low wages and insufficient development of its own processing industry. The research was conducted in the following logical sequence: comparison of the indicator indicators system of Objective 8, which are used to assess the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in Poland and Ukraine; indicators for interregional comparisons are formed on the basis of available regional statistics; individual and integral indices for individual years and in general for the analyzed period are determined. The array of statistical data taken for evaluation covers the available official data for the last 3 years - 2018-2020. The object of the study is the border regions of Poland (Lublin and Podkarpackie Voivodeships) and Ukraine (Lviv and Volyn regions). The article presents the results of economic and statistical comparative assessment of decent work and economic growth on the Polish-Ukrainian border, which showed that Polish border regions generally provide a relatively high level of decent work and economic growth, while Ukrainian - only low. The study empirically confirms that the regional policy of socio-economic development of Ukrainian border regions should be aimed at significantly intensifying activities to ensure decent work and economic growth in the future by maximizing the use of favorable geographical location to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Polish border regions in the integration process. Ukraine to the EU. The results of the study can be useful for solving the problems of mass labor migration, development of own import-substituting industries, increasing employment and wages in the border Polish and Ukrainian regions
