Abstract:
The development of eco-friendly nanomaterials for biomedical applications has gained significant attention in recent years. In this study, iron (Fe) monometallic nanoparticles were synthesized using Guiera senegalensis stem extract as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. The green synthesis approach provides a sustainable and non-toxic alternative to conventional chemical methods, while also enhancing nanoparticle stability and biocompatibility. The structural and morphological features of the biosynthesized Fe nanoparticles were characterized using standard analytical techniques. These nanoparticles were further employed in the fabrication of a biosensor for the detection of biomolecules, with glucose serving as a model analyte. The Fe-based biosensor demonstrated high sensitivity, good selectivity, and a rapid response time toward glucose detection, highlighting its potential for biomedical diagnostics and environmental monitoring. This work underscores the promise of G. senegalensis-mediated Fe nanoparticles as a cost-effective and sustainable platform for next-generation biosensing applications.
