Abstract:
This paper lays out a new definition for what Emergence is. Emergence is something new that is able to manifest itself from something that was previously not present. There are 7 properties that constraint the definition of Emergence, New, Stimulus, Resemblance, External Factor, Form, Inheritance and Reversion. Backed by mathematical formalism, these constraints eliminate inconsistencies and provide repeatable interpretation for Emergence. Three examples are provided.
