Talent Management Practices and Organizational Performance of Microfinance Banks in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

Abstract: This study examines the relationship between talent management practices and performance of microfinance banks in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. A cross-sectional survey of 193 respondents was conducted from the 375 staff of microfinance banks in Uyo to obtain data. Simple percentage and regression models were used to analyze the research questions and hypotheses. The results revealed positive and significant relationship between variables of talent management practices and performance of microfinance banks in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Based on the findings, the study recommended that the microfinance banks in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State should adopt a structured and competency-based recruitment process to ensure alignment between job roles and candidates' skills. They should implement robust employee retention strategies such as competitive compensation packages, clear career progression paths, and regular employee engagement initiatives, introduce a transparent and continuous performance appraisal system that includes regular feedback, goal setting, and performance reviews.
