Abstract: Since the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, several large-scale sports competitions such as the Olympic Games and the World Cup are organized in developing or Third World countries. The reasons that motivate these developing and industrialized countries to organize these events remain economic, social and environmental development. However, Mrani (2021) reveals that the main reason for organizing these events remains the political reason and not the development that the great decision makers of these countries advocate. These events create changes of all categories and natures in this class of countries filled with huge social inequalities.To this end, our study aims to develop a theoretical literature dealing with the link that exists between the design of mega sport events in developed countries and their impacts. Indeed, this article will develop on two distinct conceptions as real areas of research and sources of numerous debates given the size of these sports events and their contributions on the host locality and its residents. Thus, in this article, we will first talk about the characteristics of developing countries and finally address the emergence of the conception of this field of study relating to major international sporting events and their impacts in this category of countries.
