Socioeconomic Effects of Mass Flipping on The Urban Environment

Abstract:
The ongoing worldwide transformation of urban areas creates significant stress on current urban housing infrastructure while reshaping both spatial and social city patterns. Fast population expansion together with massive urban migration has created an unprecedented need for adequate affordable sustainable housing. The existing housing infrastructure from past urban centers exists in poor condition and fails to meet contemporary standards while displaying environmental inefficiencies. Current cities face two major challenges because they need to maintain and update their existing housing stock for present needs without the expensive costs of building new structures from demolished buildings. Cities use renovation as a strategic method to fulfill modern housing requirements through sustainable redevelopment practices. The urban housing renovation process includes three different types of interventions which include rehabilitation and modernization and reshaping of residential buildings. The list includes structural repairs combined with energy efficiency retrofits and interior layout modernization and safety and accessibility improvements and aesthetic value enhancement. The renovation process now goes beyond traditional technical and aesthetic improvements because it has transformed into a broad procedure which safeguards heritage and social inclusion and drives economic growth. The conservation of materials and energy during renovation projects extends building lifespans while reducing environmental impacts and prevents community displacement through social connection preservation. This study examines renovation as an essential method to revitalize urban housing. The research examines the role of renovation in supporting modern urban housing strategies by making homes more affordable and sustainable and enhancing city resilience. The research examines productive renovation approaches alongside their supporting policies through worldwide case studies. The research evaluates barriers to renovation opportunities while providing strategic recommendations to establish renovation as an inclusive urban development solution
