Cross Cultural Communication Mechanisms of Chinese Online Literature in the Era of Generative Artificial Intelligence: A Case Study of TikTok and Overseas Social Media

European Journal of AI, Computing & Informatics, 2026, vol. 2, issue 3, 53-60

Abstract: The rapid emergence of generative artificial intelligence has fundamentally transformed the cross-cultural communication landscape surrounding Chinese online literature. This study systematically investigates the underlying mechanisms that facilitate the global dissemination of Chinese digital narratives through TikTok and other prominent overseas social media platforms. Utilizing a robust mixed-methods framework anchored in cross-cultural communication theory and contemporary digital media studies, the research critically examines three primary pathways: AI-driven algorithmic recommendation systems, AI-facilitated cross-media translation processes, and community-based cultural resonance dynamics. Empirical findings demonstrate that generative AI technologies substantially reduce linguistic barriers via advanced neural machine translation, significantly amplify content discoverability through highly personalized algorithmic curation, and successfully convert traditional textual narratives into engaging multimodal cultural symbols. Nevertheless, substantial obstacles remain regarding the preservation of deep cultural contextualization and the maintenance of narrative authenticity when adapting content for heterogeneous international audiences. By elucidating these complex technological and sociocultural interactions, this research provides a comprehensive theoretical framework for understanding how artificial intelligence mediates contemporary cultural flows. Furthermore, it delivers actionable strategic recommendations for cultural practitioners, digital publishers, and platform developers aiming to enhance the global reach and impact of Chinese cultural exports in an increasingly digitized media ecosystem. These insights are particularly relevant for navigating the evolving digital publishing landscape.
