Assessing the Impact of Telemedicine on Healthcare Management and Delivery in Rural Areas

Abstract:
Introduction: Telemedicine is increasingly used to provide health care in rural areas [1]. It also highlights on telemedicine being the solution for the management and delivery of healthcare in such regions. Methods: MATERIALS AND METHODSThis is a literature review for obtaining data pertaining to the use of telemedicine in managing and delivering healthcare in rural locations. To gain firsthand perspectives, the researchers interviewed healthcare professionals and telemedicine providers as well. Results: This study demonstrates the impact of telemedicine in providing greater access to health service in rural areas, especially in remote and underserved areas. It has also overall improved the healthcare management by DHHS in terms of communication and coordination between healthcare providers leading to a reduction in costs and increase in efficiency. Conclusions: To conclude, this study shows that telemedicine has a major and a positive influence on healthcare management and delivery in area. It can help solve the dissonance of disadvantaged people not being able to get proper healthcare services and potentially bettering the overall healthcare system. Yet, expansion is dependent upon resources and training surrounding this adaptation system.
