Abstract:
Introduction: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is an acute mucocutaneous inflammatory process, manifested as a hypersensitivity picture triggered by infections and / or drugs, it is classified as the initial stage of a dermal reaction whose most severe presentation is the toxic epidermal necrolysis. Clinical Case: we present the case of a 46-year-old female patient with a diagnosis of Infectious Urinary Syndrome due to postinstrumentation sepsis, received initial treatment with bulb vancomycin, then began to present skin lesions described as generalized hives on the head, trunk and extremities with a strong tendency to universality, developed a very severe Stevens-Johnson syndrome with cutaneous, ocular and oral, vulvar and anal mucosa manifestations, which evolved to septic shock, was accompanied by other complications and had a fatal outcome. Discussion: Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis can present with a morbilliform eruption that can evolve to skin necrosis, compromising the digestive tract, trachea, bronchi, urinary tract, vagina and conjunctiva. In severe cases, complications such as persistent eye injuries, pneumonia, esophageal stenosis, acute renal failure, liver failure, hematological disorders, massive transepidermal fluid losses, and sepsis may appear, the latter being the main cause of death
