Abstract: Since time immemorial the need for people to seek a balance for their health, has led to the search for new natural remedies based on the existing medicinal flora worldwide. For this reason, in this experimental study, the efficacy of the Banana Flower Peduncle (Musa acuminata Colla) and Aqueous Extracts in the reduction of blood Glucose levels of diabetic mice by alloxan was verified both extracts. For this study we performed 9 groups of 5 mice each. Basal glycemia was determined for all animals; the treatments were administered for 10 days as follows to the groups: # 1 Normal Control (No Treatment); # 2 Negative Control (No Treatment + Alloxanic Induction); # 3 Positive Control (Metformin + aloxanic induction); # 4, 5 and 6 (Alloxanic Induction + Aqueous Extract Treatment), in the dose of 100, 200, 400 mg/kg; # 7, 8 and 9 (Aloxanic Induction + Treatment of Ethanol Extract), in the dose of 100, 200, 400 mg/kg. On day 11 Diabetes was induced by alloxan (150 mg/kg); after 48 hours the final glycemia was determined in all groups. The results showed that Group # 7 (Ethanolic Extract of 100 mg/kg) regulated blood glucose levels by 109.6 mg/dl compared to the Group # 3 (metformin) value of 97.6 mg/dl and with Group # 2 Negative Control, which was 376 mg/dl, with respect to the values of groups # 8 and 9 (Ethanolic Extract) and all groups treated with Aqueous Extract did not decrease glycemia levels.
