Abstract: The nursing professional is immersed in the accelerated social, technological, educational and sanitary development that the world is going through; having to respond with quality to the new needs of patient care at the same time that he/she must adapt to a progressively more competitive working world. In this sense, the use of research allows obtaining information and generating knowledge, necessary to make decisions and solve nursing problems; being the means to respond to these new demands and at the same time to make visible the humanistic and autonomous character of nursing.
