Abstract:
The environmental contamination generated by the open-pit waste dump in Babahoyo seriously affects public health, quality of life and the population's right to a healthy environment. The accumulated waste contaminates the soil, water and air, causing illnesses and deteriorating well-being, especially among the most vulnerable groups. The research adopts a mixed approach to analyze this phenomenon, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, with a correlational, descriptive and propositional scope. It is proposed to implement an ordinance to manage waste, encourage recycling, promote environmental education and strengthen collaboration between authorities
