Abstract:
Smoking is currently one of the most widespread addictions in the world, with consumption reaching massive proportions that involve people from various professions and occupations globally. An educational intervention study was conducted before and after, aimed at increasing the level of knowledge among patients with erectile dysfunction who smoke at the Raúl Sánchez University Polyclinic during the period from January to July 2024, regarding the influence of smoking on male sexual function. The study included a total of 10 patients diagnosed with dysfunction through the abbreviated IIEF questionnaire (IIEF-5 or SHIM) who were also smokers; most were men aged 40-49 years, with mild dysfunction predominating, and less than one year of evolution. The predominant type of smoker was moderate, with the onset of smoking before the age of 16, and most had attempted to quit smoking at least once. Before the educational intervention, none of the smokers knew about the effects of smoking on sexual desire, ejaculation, and erection; after the educational technique, knowledge increased to 100 percent among the patients
